The EM-400 series launched by Pyxis is a handheld algae water quality analyzer. Chlorophyll a is the main photosynthetic pigment of algae and an important indicator for evaluating algal biomass. Chlorophyll a can emit fluorescence under excitation light, and its fluorescence intensity is proportional to the concentration of chlorophyll a. The analysis of total algae in water bodies is based on in-situ detection of chlorophyll a fluorescence characteristics in algal cells, in order to evaluate the biomass of algae in water bodies.
Cyanobacteria is the dominant population during algal blooms in water bodies, and the microcystins produced by cyanobacteria are possible carcinogens with tumor promoting effects and can lead to primary liver cancer. The unique phycocyanin of blue-green algae (phycocyanin in seawater) is an effective feature that distinguishes blue-green algae from total algae and phytoplankton. The blue-green algae analyzer utilizes the weak fluorescence characteristics of phycocyanin and phycoerythrin at different excitation wavelengths to monitor the biomass of living blue-green algae in water samples.
This series of products can detect chlorophyll a and blue-green algae in water samples. No need for extraction and pretreatment, live detection, one handed measurement, simple and convenient, integrating Pyxis' advanced technology in optical measurement.
The EM-400 series can automatically store test data and transmit it to mobile phones or computers via Bluetooth for data analysis and reporting.
